An Adventure to Vietnam and Cambodia Following the excitement of the reunion, a group of 10 intrepid travelers left on an adventure to Vietnam and Cambodia. Heading the group was Sr. Joan Delaney who watched over five from MCS, one from MSS and three spouses. We were all on our best behavior! Our journey took us to two cities in Vietnam: Hanoi, which included a beautiful boat ride through Halong Bay with its karst islands, reminiscent of Guilin; and Ho Chi Minh City which included Saigon and a side trip to the Mekong Delta. Our stay in Cambodia was in Siem Reap, gateway to the magnificent ruins of Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom and numerous other ancient temples. Sr. Joan was the real trooper, coping with the heat and difficult terrain. Her good humor and calm spirit are an inspiration to us all! Learning about the past and more current history of these countries was interesting and helped us appreciate what the local population has had to endure throughout the war-torn years and subsequent rebuilding. In addition, having the opportunity to spend time with our beloved teacher and schoolmates was a real pleasure and assured us all that our friendships forged through the Maryknoll connection are lasting.
